Sign-ups have been disabled for the free accounts.  Currently, we do not plan to resume offering free plans.  Existing free accounts will continue to be hosted as long as the account abides by our TOS.  Accounts registered as file dumps, to file share, to send spam, to be web forgeries, or any other violation of our TOS will be deleted.  Users who use their account as intended- to host your own private website- will continue as before.

We had to suspend or delete a few dozen accounts today. Most of the accounts involved were just suspended for inactivity. Inactivity is defined as having no change to the main index file, or a full domain that never had the nameservers pointed at 1vyb. A few other accounts were deleted for hosting proxies or other inappropriate content. For security purposes, we go through accounts periodically and suspend or cancel non-active accounts and accounts with content that is illegal or deemed harmful to the service. If yours was an account suspended for inactivity, you can always contact us with your intent to maintain it and we may reinstate it. If it was canceled for inappropriate content, then please be sure to read our TOS next time.

In addition to 1Vyb.com, you can now register for a 1Vyb.cn or 1Vyb.us subdomain.  To those wanting a 1Vyb.com subdomain, it’s now the 2nd option in the drop down list when you choose the base domain.  Since it goes in alphabetical order .cn is listed first, but .us and .com subdomains are available.

We’ve had an interesting last few weeks at 1Vyb.com. It seems we have been listed on various Chinese language sites that list free web resources. From that, as we’ve learned, 1Vyb’s user base has increased substantially. This isn’t something we anticipated, but we’re very happy to have visitors and users from China and from all parts of the world.

Due to the growth of Chinese based accounts, we are soon to launch 1Vyb.cn. The plan, if we can get things translated and all, is to have a mirror of 1Vyb.com but in Chinese for the benefit of Chinese speaking users. At 1Vyb we want to thank everyone for your patronage.

This week we plan to remove accounts that are inactive and have never been active that are at least a month old. Accounts considered inactive are those that added no content and never changed the main index.html file from the default place holder.

Vyb for Free members shouldn’t feel left out, though. We will continue to increase those accounts incrementally on a case by case basis. The main reason we have not systematically increased the limits on free accounts is to prevent mass abuse by those who just want to use the service as a file dump. For those that make normal use of their site and have consistent page views, we can adjust them as needed and as space allows.
